Movie Poster Redesign

This is another exercise in redesigning existing media. A lot of movie posters are just images of the cast and landscape found in the film. Images can be used in a design, but when it is all that there is it interest is lost.

I am a fan of The Lord of the Rings series and wanted to redesign the post for the first movie, The Fellowship of the Ring. I chose to have a hand reaching up towards the falling ring in front of a dark background. In these movies, everybody wants the ring and it possesses a power that makes you feel like you need it, so much so that it can drive you mad. I chose to illustrate an unrecognizable hand because so many characters get to experience the desire of the ring and try to take it, but it is almost always out of reach.
